Here are some opportunities for our second year students:
New WiSE Sophomore Success Learning Community
The WiSE Sophomore Success Year Women in STEM learning community will provide special programming for female undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines during their sophomore year.
A one-credit seminar led by PWSE staff and peer mentors will provide opportunities for professional development, connections with professionals to reaffirm career decisions, continued career exploration, and development of leadership skills. The program will also provide networking and social interactions among sophomore women in STEM fields. Open to all sophomores in science, technology, engineering, and math ( STEM ), students may register for University Studies U ST 201X (a 1-credit seminar course) offered Tuesdays from 1:10—2:00.

Wise bookclub kickoff - 8/27/07

Setting Priorities Workshop - 9/24/07
Hawthorne Court Conference room @ 6pm, refreshments provided.
Beyond time management, learn to set priorities and achieve your goals.
EVITA - 9/27/07

FAC Mocktails with Alumnae - 10/19/07
Legends in Campustown @ 4:30pm
Meet former WiSE students who are now professionals and graduate students in “the REAL WORLD.” Learn their success strategies and what they wished they had known their sophomore year.
Dinner & documentary - 11/4/07
232 Carver Hall @ 6pm
Watch The Gender Chip Project, a documentary by filmmaker Helen De Michiel who brought together several young women majoring in the sciences, engineering and math who agreed to meet regularly over their next three years of college, and create a community to share experiences and struggles as women stepping into traditionally male domains. Discussion will follow.
Coffee with faculty
Grab a friend and invite a professor (or professional) to have coffee and learn about their careers and how they achieved their dreams. Gift certificates and worksheets are available in PWSE office from September through August.
There will also be a drawing for those who attended at least four of the events throughout the semester. Prizes such as an iPod shuffle and Target gift cards will be drawn for those who participate at the dinner & documentary event.
