Partnering with the Girl Scouts of Moingona Council, the Program for Women in Science and Engineering (PWSE), the ISU Section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) student organization hosted Brownies Exploring Science and Technology (BEST). These events are now done the first Saturday of the month in February and March.
BEST and Girls Enjoying Math and Science (GEMS) are offered on an
annual basis. For each program, PWSE at Iowa State University will
host approximately 80 -100 girls. Seventy nine Brownie Girl Scouts and 22 adults participated in the event on November 13. The PWSE Graduate Assistant and 14 volunteers from the student organization coordinated the event. The half-day, Saturday, programs
allow the girls to have fun with hands-on science, math, and technology
activities and interact with undergraduate women enrolled in science
and engineering degree programs.
