Summer Research Internship Application Instructions

Step 1: Fill out and submit the online application

Step 2: Email an electronic copy of your resume in either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat to pwse@iastate.edu with your last name and resume as the subject of the message. (i.e. Subject: Jones Resume). Be sure to include the following information in your resume:

• Career Goals (Graduate School, Professional Program, etc.)
• Previous Research Experience
• College Honors and Activities
• Two references who will not send a letter of reference

Step 3: Request a letter of reference from your academic advisor or one of your science/engineering professors. Ask the person writing the letter to place it in a sealed envelope with his/her signature across the seal.

Step 4: Request a copy of your transcript. (An unofficial copy, such as AccessPlus for ISU students, is acceptable.)

Step 5: Place your letter of reference in sealed envelope (step 3), and your transcript (step 4) in ONE envelope if possible. Mail to:

Application materials from Step 4 must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2010. The selection of interns is done by individual researchers who serve as mentors in the program. After the February application deadline, researchers will review applications and contact students individually to discuss opportunities.
